SECURITY CONSULTATION
In an advisory capacity Professional advice offered, after a security survey on the threat, method of target hardening. Would firstly assess the facilities (location) for risks and recommend to the client what structural, organizational and traffic flow changes are advisable, the operational frame work is then examined and security services tailored to provide a prominent yet not obtrusive service to ensure minimum inconvenience and customer dissatisfaction.
The cadre to be deployed would then be handpicked for client-related experience, demonstrated integrity, dedication to duty and initiative.
GATE HOUSE DUTIES
Depends mostly on client's standing orders, physical checking and documentation of all (men/material) movement in and out of premises.
ACCESS CONTROL OF STAFF, VISITORS AND VEHICLES
Are written standing orders from client and executed accordingly, designated parking areas, no loitering of drivers, trained guards on vehicle dynamics.
STATIC GUARD DUTIES
Obtain written standing orders from the client for that specific point duty, have point duty cards with OIC and the guards.
MOBILE/FOOT PATROLS
Educate guards what is required to observe and report when in mobile, note book and pen in position. Always follow the rule "see everything without being seen" therefore though the guard carry a torch it should be used very sparingly. The purpose is to deter and detect the would be culprits and to identify them instead trying to wrestle or arrest. When patrolling use eyes, smell and when needed the touch to max benefit. the sense of awareness should be much more than when defending static points.
SPECIALIZED OBSERVATION PATROLS
Foot or mobile to patrol without being seen, know hazards along the way, know what to observe and report.
KEY REGISTER AND CONTROL OF KEYS
Maintenance of "Key press" precise documentation of key movements, designee access to key's, procedure when a key is lost or misplaced (high priority). Train the staff adequately and faithfully to follow the key routines. Is the key routine (with a last key situation) understood by all concerned and always instituted immediately? Is it known a key has been mislaid.
SEARCHES IN-COMING AND OUT-GOING VEHICLES & PERSONS
Obtain written and specified standing orders from the client, maintain of vehicle movement register.
ACCIDENT PREVENTION AND SAFETY REPORT
Large visible boards, explain nature of hazards, educating workers of danger through internal sources.
TRAFFIC CONTROL - PARKNG AND VEHICLE SECURITY
Specialized guards designated exclusively to parking bay, knowledge in hand signals to guide traffic in and out of bay.
RECEPTION DUTIES, LOGGING OF VISITORS
Maintenance of registers, guiding/facilitating visitors inside the building after prior approval, and to give a very good first impression about the client in general and the guard in particular, get clients standing orders for this function.
ROUND THE CLOCK SECURITY TO CONSTRUCTION SITES
Difficult exercise if perimeter fence is not secured, maintenance of registers of the movements of material coming in and out, strict enforcement of visitors from straying in site and safety regulations too.
CCTV MINITORING & OTHER FORMS OF BIOMETRIC SECURITY DEVICES
Walls have ears is an old adage. Today walls have eyes too, CCTV systems standard and covert cameras, now cordless too for audio/video surveillance. Literature will be provided by the suppliers, special trained guards, and these are found mostly inside buildings after passing the physical guards.
GUARDING WAREHOSES & SHOPPING MALLS
FIRE PREVENTION AND CONTROL
This to be a primary function of any security guard, thus every effort must be preemptively taken to break the fire triangle, which is HEAT, OXYGEN (fresh air), and combustibles material( or the fire triangle) not coming together in the first place. It is better to prevent the elements that can cause the fire to start from grouping together, than stop the fire itself, so patrol with a purpose. Smell out for hydro carbonic compounds, look out for easily combustible materials and feel out heat spots.
FIRST AID
First aid is not doctoring! It is the preliminary assistance given to someone who has succumbed to injury or suddenly got ill, before the patient is taken to a hospital by ambulance or other safe means for professional medical care.
The trained guards are gentle with firm hands, calm and act with confidence and genuinely willing to help, and speaks to the patient continuously to build confidence and feel secured.
HELP TO FORMULATE CONTINGENCY PLAN & RISK MANAGEMENT
Security that is a part and parcel of risk management needs to be planned, as much as any other aspect of management i.e. Financial, Marketing, Production, Personal etc., in addition to planning of routine day to day security operations, human engineering considerations, available and proposed systems, equipments and response to various identities, contingencies need to be planned.
